MMA – MIX MARTIAL ARTS

Instructor – Franks – MMA instructor – São Paulo, Brazil

Originating in 1993 from the full contact sport of Vale tudo in Brazil, with minimal rules it was also promoted as a competition to determine the most effective martial art for unarmed combat situations.

It wasn’t long before the fighters realized that if they wanted to be competitive among the best, they needed to train in additional disciplines. This blend of fighting styles and skills became known as mixed martial arts (MMA).

Our MMA sessions mix the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai and Boxing into an exciting combination of ground work, grappling and striking techniques.

If you are new to MMA, you are very welcome to join our team and the best place to start is with our MMA Fit (see below) sessions where you can learn basic techniques and work hard on conditioning.

Alternatively, if you have never trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing or Muay Thai you may like to start with a few classes in one of these before working to combine the different forms of martial art.

BOXING

Instructor – Franks – São Paulo, Brazil

Also known as a pugilism, the origin of boxing as an organized sport had its acceptance by the ancient Greeks as an Olympic game in BC 688.

Boxing evolved from 16th- and 18th-century prize-fights, largely in Great Britain, to the forerunner of modern boxing in the mid-19th century, again initially in Great Britain and later in the United States.

Boxing is one of the highest calorie burning workouts on the market today. Focusing on “good form” allows us to not only maximize the results of each work out but it also gives every member a deeper understanding of boxing techniques.

Boxing is a sport that works the whole body, you will learn to be fast and precise on your punches but be light an nimble on your feet.

If you want a career in boxing or just learn from the best then you have come to the right place.
